Iron Man 2

Went to see this movie last night and enjoyed it, I don't think it was quite as good as the first but definately good for a sequel. R.D Jr. plays Tony Stark perfectly and the casting was done well, Mickey Rourke of course needs recognition since as always he is totally bad ass in what ever role he is in. The problem I have with this movie is the same one I had with the first, there really isn't that much conflict because it all has to do with technology. Basically it has to do with "oh yeah I forgot my suit did this," blamo, then they win. It is a little ridiculous and to me always very anticlimactic. I would suggest going to this movie but don't expect anything new. My favorite part was the hearing at the senate when they are trying to get Tony Stark to hand over the Iron Man suit and he won't, because it is comical but also I am strongly against eminent domain, wish that the movie could have been a little more serious in parts, I know that may not attract the target adience they are looking for, but I believe it would make a better movie.

Sherlock Holmes

I was recently able to watch this movie again, I saw in on Christmas with my girlfriend and her family and enjoyed it then just as I did today. Guy Richie let me down with movies like Rock N' Rolla but came through with this movie. The best acting the was done came from Jude Law, who played Watson magnificently. Robert Downy Jr. always plays a self absorbed egotist well. I thought this movie was shot well and the way that the characters played off each other was amazing. The simple fact is that it is a strong story that has interested people for about 100 years, I wonder however if it was the good directing or the strong actors that made this movie great. I am impatiently awaiting the next film in this saga and hope that they properly cast Moriarty. If you haven't seen this film it is definetly worth picking up.

Kick Ass, Kicked Ass!!!!! (I know not original,but whatever)

Just got out of theater from watching Kick Ass and am thoroughly impressed with this film. Everything was over all great in this film, acting, story, and the way it was shot wasn't bad. First the acting, the biggest props go to the girl who played Hit Girl, she was absolutely fantastic she fully grasped the two roles that she had to play (that of a sweet innocent girl and a cold blooded vigilanty) and played them perfectly, it was a hard thing to pull off but she did it wonderfully. Nick Cage was surprisingly good as Big Daddy, I have been disappointed in the past but he has definitely moved up in my opinion. The only flaw in the cast in my opinion was Red Mist, the way he portrayed character didn't. fit. The story was wonderful, thought ending was a bit campy but overall fantastic. I highly recommend this movie, seems like dudes would enjoy more but idk yet. I had low expectations from the way the trailer was cut, but the actual movie blew me away. And the concept was truly original and great, nothing but smiles from me.

Hudson Hawk

This movie is awesome, everyone go rent it. A very humerous off beat comedy. Is there anything that Bruce Willis can't do? That's right I said Bruce Willis, that is more than enough reason to rent this. Why haven't you gone to pick up this movie?

Columbus Day

SSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! AHHGGG THE PAIN. Columbus day is a movie about val kilmer walking around the park, he makes calls to different people, has flashbacks and befriends a black child. It is shot badly and very boring, I don't care about it. In a movie the first 10min should get your attention but by that time I want to turn it off.

Date Night

I saw this movie yesterday and was fairly happy with it. I wouldn't say it was anything new Steve carrel and tina fay played the same characters they usually play, which I enjoy but don't expect anything amazing, go to a matinee. The greatest characters were those of james Franco and mila kunis, they were fantastic and were the high point of this movie.

Law and Order

One of my favorite television shows is law and order. I love it for its simplicity of story and the fact that you don't need to follow some bigger story, you can pick up watching at any episode and don't need anymore information than what is provided in that particular episode. I can't bring myself to watching entire seasons though, guess Thats the flip side is that I don't care enough about the characters to actually follow the program the way I do others.

Death at a Funeral

Death at a Funeral was a wonderful British movie, very funny and super entertaining. My problem is that the powers that be are making this movie exactly the same but replacing British people with black people. The blatant unoriginality really bothers me, it was such a wonderful movie that it really couldn't be improved upon, the only way to go is down. I am sure the movie will do well because it has big stars and is being publicized well. However out of principle people ought to not go to this movie and just rent the original that only came out a few years ago, I honestly thinly everyone will be happier.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Words can not describe how bad this movie was. The lines were bad, story was stupid, special effects suck, didn't care about characters, etc etc. I do not think there is one redeeming factor to this movie. I can not stress enough how important it is that No one see this movie, I fear people will begin committing suicide in large numbers, however if one needs a new way to torment enemies into giving information, this movie could be a useful tool. I award it No stars, and to the makers of this movie, may God have mercy on your souls.

New Movie, Failed TV Show.

Making movies out of old television shows Is nothing new, but I have noticed lately that movies out of "failed" television shows seems to be a new trend. I put "failed" in quotation marks because as per an earlier blog, I don't believe that certain shows were actually failures, but were taken off the air. However these shows show back up in movies, for example firefly becomes serenity. But movies like that do not give the show justice and lessen the respect for those shows. On the flip side, shows like Futurama through straight to DVD's movies, eventually Is able to make it back on the air, though through a different network. Arrested development is said to be having a movie coming out, hopefully it will reinvigorate that show to get It back on the air, unlike serenity which just gave us a conclusion. And if my dream Is to really come true, The Tick will be made Into a movie... and all will be right in the world.

Tonight I watched Contact with Jodi Foster. It was entertaining and interesting to watch. It can also be fun to make fun of. The only problem I had with it was the way it pitted religion and science against each other, because it is impossible for the two to coincide. I thought that the way they represented religion wasn't very balanced and it shouldn't be shown as the enemy, also the religious characters were either crazy right wing extremists or the one liberal spiritualist (Matthew m.) Who was a priest who studied everything but never took his vows because he couldn't steer clear of sex. Of course its a religious terrorist who blows up the science machine. It's just annoying, but in the end her findings have to be taken on faith, because the government covered up certain information. Despite all this I would still recommend checking out this movie.

KAHN!!!!!!!!!

The wrath of Kahn is the movie today. In my opinion it is the best Star Trek movie ever. It's a good story, has thee most memorable line of a star trek movie ever, and the actors are all comfortable in their roles. If you haven't seen it go and get it now, in fact the makers of the new star trek film could learn a few things, especially about the characters, from watching this film.

Moon

I watched a movie called Moon tonight, starring Sam Rockwell. This movie was pretty good, I do suggest people check it out. A brief synopsis, a man (Rockwell) is on a three year mission on the moon, he soon discovers that everything he believes isn't true. I can not say more about the movie without spoiling it. The only problem that really stuck out to me was when Sam's world turns out not to be true, he handles it too well. But I still think this movie is worth checking out,.so go rent it.

The Fox Network

I was planning on writing about the greatness of Arrested Development, however I think I will just rag on Fox. The Fox network has a long history of taking great shows, teasing people by putting them on for a season or slightly more, then canceling them. Examples of this are FireFly, The Tick, and Arrested Development. Fox seems to find these shows that are ahead of their time but allowing them to be cancelled before a public following has shown itself. I suppose it is necessary to get shows like that out of the way for quality like Celebrity boxing. How can a network make so many bad decisions and stay on the air? I believe if shows like the ones mentioned above had gone to cable networks they would have had a much longer life and since my life revolves around media, I would have had a happier one.

X-Files

I have begun watching the first season of the X-Files, it is a strong show and very entertaining. The acting is done fairly well, with a few problems with timing when delivering lines, however the actors are learning to get over this with time and becoming more comfortable with their characters. The episodes however are well written and interesting from the very beginning. I am going to thoroughly enjoy reliving the 90's.

The Fly

The Fly, is a science fiction movie from 1986, where a scientist splices his genes with that of a fly through an accident with his transportation device. This movie was fantastic if you want to pull a mystery science theater with your friends, but otherwise I would strongly insist that stay clear of this movie. The best part in the movie is when the baboon is sent through and turned inside out, however to find the truly best part of this film, one must look up the deleted scene online, where "BrundleFly" combines a baboon and a cat. The babooncat attacks "BrundleFly" who has to kill it with a pipe. This scene must be watched after seeing this movie, it is truly the cherry on top of the crap sunday that is The Fly.
